Go on, you know you just want to start singing!!

I am absolutely thrilled, and a little bit stunned, and very humbled, that my little group on Facebook for my designs reached the ten thousand members mark. (and growing)

If anyone had told me, a couple of years ago, that my “yarny ramblings” would be so well liked, and made by so many thousands of people, I would never have believed it!

But I am a believer that fate, the universe, or Great Spirit, or who/whatever you think, is in charge of all that happens…. Obviously had a plan, and I am just going along with it. 😊

I decided to design a mini cal (crochet a-long) to celebrate, and to say thank you for the amazing support I get from the crochet community.

As soon as the thought entered my head, so did the song Sweet Caroline… “good times never felt so good” and “Hands, touching hands. Reaching out, touching me, touching you”.

It just seemed so perfect to name this cal Sweet Caroline.

Now I know you are all singing along 😊

So, what are we going to make?

A cushion cover, or a large afghan square, it is up to you.

I need some new cushions so that is what I am doing with my squares.

You can make just one, or you can make lots and join them together for a “Sweet” afghan.

Sweet Caroline is the same size and stitch count as my other large squares,
A Walk in the Garden, Moon’s Shadow, and Fox Fires.
They all have a final stitch count of 82 stitches per side, plus corner. Which means they also fit perfectly with all of my other afghan squares.

For one square, you will need approx. 490 meters/ 535 yards of double knitting yarn, 4mm G hook.

This will give you a 20 inch/ 50cm square.

To make more, just multiply by the number you want to make.

Should you want to use Aran/Worsted weight yarn, then each square will come up at approx. 24 inches/61 cm square, with a 5.5mm hook, and you will need considerably more yarn.

Use Your Stash

The idea is to use what you have in your stash, use up all those odd balls, or little bits and pieces you have left over from other projects. Maybe even make a magic, happy, hippy, colourful blanket for yourself.

You can mix different brands, or different types of yarn, but do keep to the same weight.

Just be creative with what you have.

There are 3 parts to the CAL
