Moon’s Shadow

£3.50 or ( 3 Credits )

I just love crocheting squares, I love designing them, and I love making squares from other designers.
Any project can become your own creative expression, when you mix and match squares.
But…..
I think it’s time to mix it up a bit more!

So here is the first of my LARGE squares, there will be more soon.

Available to purchase in US or UK terms and also in German.

Inspired by a young lady whose middle name is Moon.
She likes to drop subtle hints to her Mom, who is one of my testers. So I designed this large square in honour of her.

It also reminds me of a Lunar Eclipse, when the Moon is between the Earth and the Sun, with the hints of light shining through.

And you guessed it…as I was designing this, the song that kept going round and round in my mind was… Moon Shadow by Cat Stevens.

This is Melissa’s Moon’s Shadow, together with Chantelle and Grace, and Lotus Pavilions.

They mix and match beautifully, and I know the finished blanket with be gorgeous.

24” Afghan Square

Using worsted/Aran weight Yarn with a 5.5mm hook.

Approx. 575 meters/625 yards of yarn needed.

I used Stylecraft Special Aran: Graphite, Silver, Teal, Aspen and Lemon.

Stylecraft Special Aran is available in 30 gorgeous colours at Lovecratfs, The Knitting Network and Woolwarehouse, both deliver worldwide.

20” Afghan Square

Using Double Knitting and 4mm hook.

Approx. 110 meters/120 yards of yarn needed.

I used Stylecraft Special Double Knit: Cream, Pale Rose, Fuchsia Purple and Boysenberry.

Stylecraft Special Double Knitting is available in over 70 gorgeous colours at Deramores and Woolwarehouse, both deliver worldwide.

This size square is also perfect as a cushion facing.

The tutorial includes stitch abbreviations, details of any special stitches, and step by step instructions, with lots of pictures, as usual.

This square will sit perfectly with any of my 12 inch squares, with a final stitch count of 84 stitches, joining works perfectly with the 40 stitch (plus corners) count of my 12 inch squares.

Here is Moon’s Shadow with, Desire, Rosetta, Spinning Around, Star Crossed, and With Love.

I will also be creating some smaller squares.

If you have seen, or made either Rose of Avalon or Dream Weaver, you will understand how I like to mix it up, with different size squares. Heart of Friendship also uses different size squares.

But you don’t have to follow the way I have done it!

There is also the Elements collection, which is made up of five different patterns.

All of the small squares in these patterns are the same size and stitch count…so mix them up as much as you like.

Have fun, and do what you love.

Here are some of the beautiful Moon’s Shadow squares made by my testers.
