♥  Thank you to the CAL Crochet A-Long group for asking me to design this crochet a-long project.

♥  And a HUGE Thank You to all of you for supporting me as a designer and joining me in this wonderful journey.

If you haven’t read the introduction post, then please find it here. You will find all the information on Yarn Packs, how much yarn you will need, hook sizes, the finished size of your blanket and all the resources available.

In this final part we make our border to finish our blanket.

The border is made from very simple split shells, and was the main type of border I used to make, many years ago, to edge blankets and cushions. There is a simplistic elegance in this stacked shell design, which, though pretty on it’s own, does not detract from the main design, and can be used on any type of blanket, and made to whatever depth you like.

However… if you want to go larger with your blanket, here are a few ideas for you.

You may want to repeat part 2, obviously the stitch counts will be different, make round 1 of part 9, and then work as for part 2, with more repeats. This will give you a final stitch count of: short side: 244 dc and long side: 292 dc. And will increase the size of your blanket by 3 to 4 inches / 7.5 to 10 cm on each side

Or you may want to make extra squares….. this is where it gets tricky… as the maths does not quite work, so you will need to make an adjustment and get your final stitch counts to a multiple of 22 plus 20, or 42 plus 40.

If you wish to make the Eileen and Alana square match with the Winnie’s square, you will need to make one extra round of hdc with a corner of (1 hdc, ch 2, 1 hdc), this will bring the size and stitch count to match with all 3 squares.

Or just work extra rounds of the border, or even add your own rounds, until you reach the required size.
