Cable Stitch

Cable stitch is an interlocking stitch.

It is worked over a multiple of 4 stitches.

It can be worked in rows, or in the round.

Working in rows, you can choose to work the cable stitch on the right side only, with a row of single crochet worked on the wrong side.

Or you can work your cable stitches on both sides.

♥ Right side only

♥ Working on both sides.

Begin with any multiple of 4 stitches, plus 2.

I suggest a row of single crochet to start, but a pattern you are working from may be different.

You will find Cable Stitch used in Heart of Friendship, and Diamond Geezer-ghan.

1. Chain 3 or make a starting double crochet in the 1st stitch.

2. Skip next stitch, dc in next 3 stitches.

3. Yarn over your hook.

4. Hook through skipped stitch, from front to back, and pull up a loop, level with the 3rd dc in set.

5. Complete dc as normal.
